The fact that they are non-profit means that they do not make their money off of you. Instead they get what they need from the creditors themselves - you can keep your money, thank you very much. But, we say that it is not entirely free because most of them will ask that you pay a fee if you do decide to sing up for one of their programs or plans. The fee, however, is nominal and often times only suggested, so if you cannot swing it they will understand, but we are talking $50-60 here so just take it easy. Otherwise it is at no cost to you and you can get all of the information that you will need to make an informed decision about what your next move should be financially, so let's just keep calling it free debt consolidation because it just feels good.
